Explore the Latest Innovations, Trends, and Expert Insights in Corrosion Prevention and Permanent ESD Protection.
Albeit obvious as to what the relevance of corrosion prevention would be to a time capsule, this post is unique. Unique in that, we embrace humility and gratitude for a most rare opportunity, recently bestowed upon us. That is, to actively engage in surviving history while simultaneously actively engaging in the forthcoming future. We go through life collecting memories. Memories of times, people, places, and things. Sometimes all it takes is a part of a song, or the sight of some long forgotten trinket. Once triggered, the memories come cascading back into our conscience minds.
Contending with atmospheric pollutants is something that most entities must sustain, no matter how big or small the operation. The US military is one of the biggest innovators in the world, listing its R&D budget at over $50 billion a year. Those innovators constantly look to innovate, it is in their DNA, but sometimes their stumbling block is finding inspiration. The combination of recent innovations in robotics, artificial intelligence, materials, additive manufacturing, and nanoenergetics is changing our strategic dominance.
The ongoing contributions of Bell Labs are numerous, to say the least. Imagine a world without -- the fax machine, various lasers, the first satellite, the semi-conductor, and various computer languages. Moreover, imagine a world without Intercept Technology™. They have made all of these a reality. Their history remains unrivaled in productivity and patents, averaging a patent a day since their inception.
Apple recently announced that it will partner with First Solar to build a 1300 acre $850M solar farm. The farm will produce enough energy to power all of Apple’s California operations, its corporate campus and 52 Apple Stores. This is part of a growing trend of some of the world’s largest companies committing to renewable energy. Apple and other sources have released many statements announcing the nearly $850 million deal. Apple does not plan to stop there though. Previous reports suggest that Apple will continue find ways for their supply chain to go green.
UPS delivers 15.8 million packages a day worldwide. To squeeze every ounce of efficiency out of its operations UPS needs to focus on even the smallest things. One of the things that UPS has done is use an algorithm to make its truck routes more efficient. Accomplished, in part, by minimizing the number of left turns -- and revising the routes -- its delivery trucks take. This may not seem like much to an individual driver, as many consumers see the world. However, on a global scale it adds up quickly.
A pair of hunters recently discovered one of the few woolly rhinos, and the only calf, found in Russia. Scientists are now examining the body for any usable DNA. This DNA would determine which living rhino is most closely related to the one found. This practice is not unique. Other studies, also, work to determine the lineage of other animals and even people.
