Renewable Energy: The Greener Apple

Apple recently announced that it will partner with First Solar to build a 1300 acre $850M solar farm. The farm will produce enough energy to power all of Apple’s California operations, its corporate campus and 52 Apple Stores. This is part of a growing trend of some of the world’s largest companies committing to renewable energy.

Apple and other sources have released many statements announcing the nearly $850 million deal. Apple does not plan to stop there though. Previous reports suggest that Apple will continue find ways for their supply chain to go green.

Before we delve into the birth of Static Intercept-2, let's pick up on the winners for the 2014 Apple Design Awards announced last week.

Past winners of the awards include Where’s My Water, Guitar Hero, AOL Radio, and a World of Warcraft release.

Each of these won for a different reason. This is due to Apple’s criteria stating that winning designers “combined design and technology in creative, compelling, and powerful ways.”

Armed with shopping bag and credit card, consumers applauded the release of the first iPod in 2001. With 5 GBs of storage and the slogan “1,000 songs in your pocket”, the iPod quickly became an overnight success. Now different versions can hold up to 160 GBs and 40,000 songs. An HD color screen replaced the orighinal black and white screen.
