Jewelry is an important market segment and a perfect fit for Intercept Technology™ products. Intercept Technology™ products provide protection against tarnishing or discoloration of jewelry and precious metals without the use of volatiles, oils or coatings and without scratching. Older technologies rely on absorption technologies and the absorption media can cause surface scratching, especially on highly polished surfaces.
Intercept Technology™ plastics do not contain volatiles that could coat surfaces; they also do not contain anti-block agents. Anti-blocking agents are typically silica that is added to plastics to allow the plastic not to stick or block to itself, however these additives can cause scratching, since they are abrasive. Intercept Technology™ products also transcend the limitations of absorption technologies.
Absorption Technologies can have the potential to scratch, they need to have minimum levels of corrosive gases to be able to absorb the gases effectively or efficiently (often these minimums are above normal or typical levels for most environments), and some technologies allow for de-absorption under changes in temperature and/or humidity.
Intercept Technology™ products instead are reactive polymers, meaning that the Copper in the Intercept plastic is reacted into the polymer and non-migratory and the Copper will react with and permanently neutralize the atmospheric pollution (corrosive gases) in the environment keeping your metal surfaces pristine. Additionally, the highly reactive, high surface area Copper inside the Intercept Technology™ products will react with even trace amounts of corrosive gases, no matter the gas concentration.
